SNCF: 100,000 Tickets Remaining for Intercity Trips

The €19 tickets for intercity trains are extended until August 31 or until stocks run out, confirmed by Clément Beaune. 

Half of the tickets are still on sale, totaling 100,000. Two weeks ago, Clément Beaune had announced an offer that was supposed to end on July 15th. However, this morning on TéléMatin on France 2, the Minister changed his tune. He announced that 100,000 tickets are still available and that the offer will be extended.

This comes as no surprise; two weeks after announcing the sale of 200,000 tickets, half are still available. That is why this morning, the Minister for Transport announced that the offer will continue until the end of summer: “There are currently more than 100,000 left. We are continuing this campaign until the end of summer, until stocks are exhausted, until August 31st.” Clément Beaune further explained that this offer has been a “great success”. 

An offer exclusive to Intercités

The offer is limited to one type of train, Intercités. They are known for being cheaper than TGVs, but also slower. This initiative did not find a significant audience, and it will continue to be available until August 31, marking the end of this “offer” provided by the government.

The SNCF is expected to announce the sale of 300,000 lower-cost tickets. This will help gauge whether there is demand for this offer or not.
