Metro Ticket Prices Soar for the Paris 2024 Olympics

Single-ride and carnet metro tickets will almost double in price during the Paris Olympic Games.

The transportation infrastructures specifically set up during the Paris Olympic Games have a cost, and the Île-de-France Region had to decide to adjust transportation prices to cover part of this expense. Beyond that, the increased frequency of buses, metro, and RER during the Olympics also requires the region to expand its teams and technical resources, resulting in another significant expense.

During the two months of competition, the single-ride metro ticket will rise to 4 euros from the current 2.10 euros, and the carnet will increase to 32 euros from 16.90 euros. This announcement was made by the Regional President Valérie Pécresse in a video published on her personal X account (formerly Twitter).

Rest assured, Île-de-France residents, the monthly and annual Navigo passes, as well as the Imagin’R and senior passes, “will not be affected by these increases,” she specifies. However, the Navigo pass price will indeed be increased to 86.40 euros in December as planned.

To encourage the purchase of passes rather than individual tickets, a « Paris 2024 Olympics » Pass has been created for the entire duration of the event, allowing travel throughout Île-de-France, including airports and Orlyval, at a decreasing rate from 16 euros per day to 70 euros per week.
