The Tesla Model 3 Performance Plaid Is Coming Soon

The Performance version of the Tesla Model 3, renewed in September 2023, is polishing its image ahead of its reveal in a few weeks.

Falling into the background, we almost forgot about this Tesla Model 3 version Performance which excites the speed enthusiasts. We discussed its development many months ago, and it seems that its refinement is complete. Better yet: a unit is reportedly filming a promotional commercial in Spain, in the city of Valencia.

An uninformed observer wouldn’t see much difference, but an attentive eye would. Front shield, rear diffuser, widened wheels with a new design, a carbon trunk spoiler, larger brake calipers painted in red… Not to mention the Plaid logo stuck on the rear trunk. A logo that aims to become a scarecrow for competitors.

Atomic Performance?

The rest of the adjustments are invisible because they’re made through the electronic settings of the Tesla Model 3 to unlock its performance. Software configurations, energy deployment, tuned suspension hardness—these lines of code have been modified.

In terms of performance, it is said to have 535 horsepower and a battery close to 100 kWh. The main challenge would be the weight. The previous version already weighed 1919 kg, but there is hope. The new Long Range version, serving as the base, lost 20 kg despite a larger battery. It is now below the psychological threshold of 1900 kg.

Should we expect the new Performance Plaid version to follow the same trend despite its more robust components?

Regarding prices, it’s reasonable to think that the entry ticket will be around 60,000 euros. A final answer soon.
