Apple Car Derails in Early Road Test

After a decade of investments, Tim Cook has decided to end the fun and put an end to the Apple Car project.

Apple executives informed teams working on the company’s vehicle, internally called Project Titan, on Tuesday that hundreds of employees would be transferred to divisions working on artificial intelligence. A few layoffs are unfortunately expected among the 2,000 people involved in this shaky project since its launch.

This change in direction follows “tumultuous” meetings between the project lead, Kevin Lynch, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, and Apple’s board of directors. The stakes were high because this is one of the company’s most expensive projects, with hundreds of millions of dollars spent over the past decade, without much success, I must admit, as we haven’t even had a small prototype to hold us over.

After humorously mocking Apple’s ambitions, Tesla CEO Elon Musk seems to have responded rather favorably to the news, sharing a social media post about the decision with a sharp comment: goodbye and one last cigarette, which might be that of the condemned…

While Apple has not yet commented on the information, it has been confirmed at several levels since its revelation by Bloomberg. It seems that the fruit brand is struggling to develop autonomous driving technology, and the slowdown in the electric market has dashed its sales forecasts.
