This Genesis concept pays tribute to a legendary Belgian driver

After building his sporting legend with Ford, Ferrari, and especially Porsche, Jacky Ickx is now the ambassador of the Korean Genesis.

Unveiled at a reception hosted by the watchmaker Chopard in Switzerland, the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Tribute concept was created in honor of Jacky Ickx’s outstanding career, a legend of motorsport. This model is an evolution of the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta, a design proposal that symbolizes Genesis’s enthusiasm for motorsport, revealed during the Gran Turismo World Series Finals in Barcelona in 2023.

The X Gran Berlinetta is a flagship model of the Genesis Magma lineup and embodies the essence of Genesis’s design philosophy, Athletic Elegance. A living tribute to Jacky Ickx, it immediately impresses with a “Midnight blue” paint complemented by a white stripe reminiscent of the Belgian driver’s famous helmet, who is a six-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and has eight victories in Formula 1.

The Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Tribute was showcased during an exclusive evening before the Watches and Wonders Geneva event, organized by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, co-president of Chopard. The evening also celebrated the launch of the new Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph JX7 from Chopard, a collaboration between Karl-Friedrich Scheufele and Jacky Ickx, filled with nods to the driver’s career. This 36-year partnership between Chopard and Jacky Ickx highlights the depth of their relationship, far beyond the world of racing, enriched by a shared commitment to excellence.

Performance, power, and aesthetics combined

The Genesis X Gran Berlinetta concept is powered by a centrally mounted Lambda 11 V6 engine, aided electrically by Genesis E-SC technology. This hybrid powertrain delivers a total output of 1071 horsepower, with the V6 alone capable of reaching 870 horsepower at a stratospheric 10,000 rpm. The electric motor adds an additional 201 horsepower as needed.
