MG5 at just €25,990 for 2 weeks

MG offers €7,000 off its electric estate car until the end of March 2024. Is the MG5 a great deal or fairly priced?

The MG5 measures 4.6 meters long, 1.82 meters wide, and 1.52 meters high. These dimensions put it in competition with the Peugeot 308 SW and the Skoda Octavia estate. However, for space, the entire SUV range is in competition. It ultimately comes down to the choice of an estate over an SUV, which is a matter of taste. As for the trunk volume, MG claims 479 liters with the back seats up, and 1,367 liters when folded down.

The lines of the MG5 are balanced but lack a bit of flair. It is a classic estate car in the purest… British tradition. The dashboard is also quite traditional. It features a 10.25-inch touchscreen. A 7-inch screen behind the steering wheel replaces the traditional needle gauges. It is standard across the entire range.

Motor and Battery

Standard range or Extended range: two versions coexist in the MG5 lineup. The first has a 50.3 kWh battery that powers a 130 kW motor with 260 Nm of torque. The Extended range model has a 61.1 kWh battery. The torque remains at 280 Nm, but the motor’s power drops to 115 kW, without significant repercussions on performance. Whichever version is chosen, the Chinese electric estate car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 185 km/h.

Range and Charging of the MG5

With the 50.3 kWh battery, the MG5 can theoretically travel 320 km on a single charge. The larger battery extends the range to 400 km (WLTP combined cycle in both cases). For recharging on a wall box type installation, the vehicle is equipped with an 11 kW onboard charger.

On a fast charger, the Standard range MG5 can accept up to 70 kW. The Extended range model performs slightly better in this regard, with a maximum charging power of 87 kW.
