Metallica to Embark on World Tour in Electric Iveco

The Italian truck manufacturer will lend a fleet of clean vehicles to the rock group Metallica for their M72 tour in 2024.

What’s the common ground between the guitars and the trucks of the group Metallica? They are both electric now. This is a big marketing move for the Italian manufacturer that has gotten ahead of Tesla and its Semi, which we are still waiting to see. Mercedes and Volvo are also at the forefront, so all ideas are good to promote the transition from diesel trucks to electric.

The idea for this partnership dates back to November 2023, but it then needed to be realized practically based on the needs of the rock group that has sold millions of albums.

A whole caravan of trucks and minibuses will be part of the tour, especially in Europe, connecting cities like Munich (Germany), Helsinki (Finland), Copenhagen (Denmark), Warsaw (Poland), and Madrid (Spain). The vehicles provided will either be electric or powered by natural gas.

The star S-eWay

But the main star of this group will be the new Iveco S-eWay, which is 100% electric. This 4X2 tractor boasts truly impressive power and range. Able to tow 44 tons thanks to its 480 kW (645 horsepower), the Iveco S-eWay can travel up to 500 km on a single charge.

Its XXL battery holds 738 kWh of energy and its charging time from 0 to 80% is 90 minutes. Its production is located in Ulm, Germany.

Finally, for a group whose best album was called Ride The Lightning, it’s amusing to see them hitting the road with electric power now.
