Tesla Model Y Propulsion: Discounts in the Face of Long Range Competition

The internal competition between the Tesla Model Y Propulsion and the new Long Range Propulsion is already being felt with promotions.

It was to be expected. With a price gap of “only” 2,000 euros between the Propulsion and Long Range Propulsion versions, the latter offering an additional 145 km of mixed WLTP range, the standard Propulsion version is now struggling to attract buyers.

So much so that Tesla now has no choice but to offer substantial discounts on the already produced units that are either about to be delivered or have already been delivered.

This is the case for several vehicles approaching delivery or showing between 5 and 12 km on the odometer. These are brand new models, let’s be serious.

Thanks to discounts exceeding 2,000 euros, especially on units featuring optional paints and equipment, Tesla is thus creating a price differential between the Model Y Propulsion and the Long Range Propulsion.

Will this be enough to attract buyers? Probably in the short term. In the long term, the disappearance of the standard Propulsion version, as seen in the United States, seems inevitable.
