What do you think of the interior of the new Smart #5?

The all-new Smart #5 will be presented for its world debut on August 28 in Australia. To keep us waiting, Smart has sent us some rather astonishing sketches.

As the largest and hence most spacious model ever launched by Smart, the #5 emphasizes living space with an extremely minimalist interior that the manufacturer describes as “contemporary.” It aims to be technological with a digital interface managed by a cutting-edge AMD V2000 chip. The front area is optimized for the driver and passenger, featuring surprising oak wood trims. This is the first time that the designers from Mercedes, responsible for Smart’s design, have integrated a wooden element into the interior design of a brand model. If there were still any doubts, it is clear that Smart aims for a premium position. This is a risky choice, as the brand known for its cute and tiny urban Fortwo is not categorized in the collective unconscious as high-end.

But the most surprising feature is in front of the passengers with an unprecedented set consisting of a massive 25.6-inch screen. The driver benefits from a 10.3-inch color LCD driver screen complemented by two 13-inch OLED screens. Plenty of screens and wood, here we are…

Let’s wait to see the actual rendering on August 28, but Smart promises us that we are not at the end of our surprises and already announces that more details will be communicated to us before the official presentation.
