Tesla Restaurant Ready to Open Its Doors

The “Diner” restaurant project, drive-in movie theater, and Tesla Supercharger station in Southern California are finally nearing completion.

On X, Tesla posted a photo of the site, showing the Superchargers lit up, fully paved parking lots, and construction visibly close to completion. This highly anticipated site, located at 7001 West Santa Monica Boulevard, began construction at the end of 2023 and now appears to be approaching its opening after a construction period that has taken some time. This development follows approximately 18 months of work, a duration that surprised some, given how quickly Tesla has built some of its recent manufacturing plants.

Tesla has not yet announced an official opening date, but clues hint at an imminent inauguration. In January, the company integrated coding elements into its mobile app related to the diner, and the first job offers for this site were published in August 2024.

Leave the controversies behind

The main parking lot of the diner will include between 28 and 32 Supercharger stalls, in accordance with the permits obtained. Nearby, Tesla is constructing an additional lot with about 50 stalls, though it is likely they will not be operational at the time of the diner’s opening.

Inspired by the 1950s, this unique location will offer a retro atmosphere, with roller-skating servers, rock’n’roll music, and movie screens projecting cult scenes. This concept, first mentioned in 2018 by Elon Musk on Twitter, reflects Tesla’s ambition to create spaces that blend innovation and entertainment.

After obtaining a series of permits throughout 2023, Tesla started construction in September of the same year. Photos of the site, published from September to April, show the rapid progress of this project. However, we hope that the controversies surrounding Elon Musk do not spoil the celebration. Tesla showrooms have become frequent targets for anti-Trump opponents. Let’s wish that this Diner does not face the same fate and can become a place of relaxation and celebration for everyone.
