Mercedes eActros 600 earns its first star

Snowy roads and freezing temperatures haven’t cooled the ambition of the all-electric Mercedes eActros 600.

This winter, two nearly final prototypes of the Mercedes eActros 600 traveled 6,500 kilometers across Northern Europe during the European Testing Tour Winter 2025. The goal? To test the energy efficiency and practicality of this electric truck in demanding winter conditions.

For two and a half weeks, the trucks crossed ten countries, from Germany to the Arctic Circle, before heading back to Stuttgart. With temperatures ranging from -18 to 9 °C, and roads that were sometimes dry, sometimes icy, the eActros 600 proved its robustness. “We are very satisfied with the results,” said Christof Weber, Testing Manager. “These tests show that our truck can be performant and comfortable even in winter.”

Controlled consumption despite the cold

Winter inevitably affects the energy consumption of electric trucks. Higher air density increases wind resistance, while icy roads require tires with better grip, but consume more. The result: on snowy sections, energy consumption increased by up to 50% compared to summer. Despite this, cabin heating had only a minimal impact on range, providing drivers with optimal thermal comfort onboard.

The challenge remains infrastructure. While some stations in Scandinavia stood out for their efficiency, they remain rare. Drivers could rely on the app Mercedes-Benz Trucks Remote 3.0, which allows real-time monitoring of the charge. A practical solution to optimize breaks and avoid unnecessary stress.

The eActros 600, equipped with lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries, aims for impressive durability: up to 1.2 million kilometers in ten years. With a maximum payload capacity of 22 tons and an elegant aerodynamic design, this electric model has everything to seduce. It’s no surprise that it won the prestigious International Truck of the Year 2025 award.

With solid performance, even on icy roads, the eActros 600 demonstrates that electric vehicles have a place on the roads, summer and winter. The future of long-distance transport looks promising!
