RER A

Good news for RER A users: starting September 1, 2025, the transportation offer will be strengthened again.

Île-de-France Mobilités has decided to extend the operation of longer trains on the RER A line, while improving service at the Neuilly-Plaisance station.

The RER A, jointly operated by RATP and Transilien SNCF Voyageurs, is the most frequented line in Europe, with over a million passengers per day. Its usage remains high in the evening, which justifies the decision to extend the use of long trains. After Fridays, Saturdays, and the nights before holidays, this will now also apply to Thursday nights, until the end of service.

Additionally, from Monday to Wednesday evenings, the operation of long trains will be extended by an additional hour, until around 11 PM at Châtelet–Les Halles. These measures are in addition to the seasonal reinforcements already in place during the summer and around the end-of-year holidays.

38 additional trains every day at Neuilly-Plaisance

Another major change: the Neuilly-Plaisance station will benefit from systematic service. This station, which welcomed 6.2 million passengers in 2023 compared to 5.9 million in 2019, will see 38 additional trains per day. Specifically, during peak hours, five more trains per hour will serve the station, significantly improving comfort and reducing overcrowding related to passenger influx.

This development is made possible by the extension of the SACEM system (System for Assistance in Driving, Operation, and Maintenance) to Noisy-Champs, a technology that optimizes train frequency.

Île-de-France Mobilités is thus continuing the work initiated in September 2024, when long trains had already been implemented on certain evenings. With a punctuality rate of 95% in the first half of 2025, the RER A remains the most efficient line in the network, while continuing to invest to better meet the growing demand from passengers.
