Navigo Pass: Toward a Price Increase in 2024

It has been in the papers of the Île-de-France region for a while, the Navigo Pass will indeed see a price increase next year, announced the Île-de-France Regional Council.

It has become a habit for all users of Parisian transportation, the price of the Navigo Pass is expected to increase once again. In January of last year, the price of the precious ticket rose from 75.20 euros to 84.10 euros. This Tuesday, July 18th, the regional authority announced that its price will rise in January 2024.

A vote in December to determine the amount

Next December, the management council will meet again to agree on the new tariffs for the Navigo Pass, as no amount is currently known. Several weeks ago, an amount of 120 euros was mentioned in the press, but this could be reduced to around 90 euros. The government has promised additional fiscal revenues and increased contributions from local authorities, which could “moderate the tariff hikes as much as possible for Île-de-France residents,” says Valérie Pécresse, President of the region.

What is the main reason?

“Should,” because nothing is yet 100% certain. It is a wish that has so far been adopted by the Île-de-France transport authority. Therefore, a price increase is strongly considered. The reasons for this increase?

The main reason would be “funding needs of Île-de-France Mobilités.” However, it is also known that next year many sporting events will take place in the capital, notably the Paris Olympic Games next summer.
