Porsche 911 Challenge: 515 hp to make its first steps in competition

Porsche unveils the 911 Challenge, a new race car with 515 hp derived from the 911 GT3 and designed as the entry point into customer competition starting in 2027.

A racing Porsche 911 to start competing: this is the promise of the new Porsche 911 Challenge. Presented as the new entry model in the Porsche Motorsport lineup, it succeeds the 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport and will be eligible to participate in various one-make championships starting in 2027.

What makes it special? Staying very close to the production Porsche 911 GT3. The 911 Challenge largely retains its 4.0-liter atmospheric flat-six engine. It delivers 515 hp at 8,500 rpm and can reach 9,000 rpm. The seven-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox is also retained.

To transform the GT3 into a true racing car, Porsche adds specific dampers, slick tires mounted on 18-inch wheels, and brakes with 380 mm steel discs. The rear wing also has four adjustable positions.

Inside, the 911 Challenge comes with all the expected safety equipment: welded cell, bucket seat with six-point harness, 110-liter FT3 fuel tank, and extinguishing system. Surprisingly, air conditioning remains present, along with ABS, traction control, and ESC, the settings of which are intended to facilitate learning for less experienced drivers.

With this new model, Porsche now has a full GT racing lineup centered around the 911: 911 Challenge, 911 GT4 R, 911 Cup, and 911 GT3 R.

Not road-legal, the Porsche 911 Challenge will hit the circuits starting in 2027, particularly in the Porsche Challenges and Porsche Trophies. A new entry point into Porsche Motorsport that still retains 515 hp and an engine capable of screaming at 9,000 rpm.
