The choice was made to benefit from the existing infrastructure at the Renault site. The automaker had already announced the transformation of the site, notably with a new electric motor production line for the Megane E-Tech electric.
500 electric buses per year
The site is expected to be operational by the end of 2023. At this new Cléon factory, Ebusco will assemble up to 500 electric buses annually. The Dutch company also maintains an option to expand the site and production in the future. The investment is relatively modest, estimated at around 10 million euros.
Ebusco has not specified which electric bus models it will manufacture in France. The oldest, the 2.2 version, comes from the China site. The newest Ebusco 3.0, released in 2021, is built in Deurne, Netherlands. Most likely, this model will be produced at the Cléon site.
The Ebusco 3.0 is a bus with a composite and carbon fiber structure. This would reduce its weight by 3 tons compared to a conventional bus, totaling 9.5 tons. Two versions are available, 12 and 18 meters, offering 95 to 160 seats. The electric bus is powered by two 125 kW electric motors, totaling 250 kW (335 hp). The batteries, ranging from 250 to 500 kWh, provide up to 575 km of range and are located in the floor, leaving space for a panoramic roof.
