C Line Mettis: the new bus route in Metz by 2025
This page is translated from the original post "Ligne C Mettis : le nouveau tracé de bus à Metz d’ici 2025" in French.

Work will begin on the new Line C of the Metz bus network, connecting Marly and Montigny-lès-Metz to the city center.
The EuroMetropole Metz announced today that work will be underway on this new route. This will improve circulation across the existing Mettis network. The city estimates that this line will serve approximately 38,000 residents, with a daily ridership of 12,000 passengers from Monday to Friday.
Metz aims to offer an alternative to private car use ahead of the implementation of the Low Emission Zone (ZFE) in 2025. In addition to a new bus line, residents will have the option to park their cars in two new park-and-ride lots connected to this line. Thus, the towns of Marly and Montigny-lès-Metz will be connected to the city center in 2025.
What changes are planned for the new bus line?
The EuroMetropole’s goal is to promote greener urban development by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Consequently, buses on Line C will operate using green hydrogen.
The new Line C will shorten travel time between Place de la République in Metz and Marly. Currently, the journey takes 32 minutes via Line 2. The city aims to reduce this time to 22 minutes with the new bus. One of the most significant improvements will be direct (non-transfer) access to Metz train station. As for the city center and Place Mazelle, they will be served up to the Outre-Seille neighborhood (initially) and Ranconval afterwards.

However, Metz is not stopping at simply adding a new bus line. The city plans to reorganize surrounding public spaces to revitalize neighborhoods for residents. This redevelopment includes:
- Implementation of secure bike lanes;
- Improvement and safety enhancements for pedestrian crossings, bringing them up to standards for People with Reduced Mobility;
- High-quality renovation of public spaces.
This new Line C complements the existing two routes, adding 10 new kilometers of line and 21 stations along the route. Operating from 5 a.m. to midnight, you can use this line with buses arriving every 10 minutes. Construction of the line will begin in 2024, with service scheduled to start in the last quarter of 2025. Have a good trip!
