RGNT Classic moto électrique

With their vintage scent but a modern electric motorization, RGNT motorcycles are a beautiful retro alternative from Sweden.

Electric is often associated with technology and innovation. It’s normal for it to evoke futuristic, aggressive styles with striking features. But some brands go against the trend, like RGNT.

A Japanese vintage look by Swedes

Behind the unromantic name RGNT lies a small Swedish manufacturer. Founders Jonathan Aström and Lina Kanstrup launched their project in 2018 and their first motorcycle in 2020. Their goal is clear: “to see city dwellers swap their cars for an electric motorcycle.”

Instead of designing an ultra-sporty futuristic two-wheeled electric, their focus turned to the past. The designers kept the shape of their first prototype, which was an old Honda CBF125. The final product is a retro bike that hides its electric motor well. The Classic was later followed by a Scrambler version in April 2021, more sporty with specific handlebars, seat, tires, and fenders.

120 km range

These two versions are based on 18-inch front wheels and 17-inch rear wheels, with 300 mm brake discs (220 mm at the rear). The suspension includes a 35 mm front fork with 120 mm travel.

The rear motor develops a maximum power of 11 kW (8.5 kW continuous), enough to reach 125 km/h. The battery of 7.7 kWh would allow for a range of 120 kilometers, with an 80% recharge taking a little over 3 hours.

However, RGNT doesn’t overlook the advantages of modern times. It features a 7-inch touchscreen providing full connectivity via 4G, GPS, and remote updates.

Prices and availability of RGNT electric motorcycles

The electric motorcycles are handcrafted at the Kungsbacka (Sweden) factory, with the brand specifying that its suppliers are local, “just a few kilometers away, in Gothenburg.” The price of the RGNT Classic is €12,495, and the Scrambler is priced at €13,495.

The first deliveries occurred in December 2020, with RGNT shipping throughout Europe and, of course, in France. However, note that the current delivery time is between “15 and 20 weeks” according to the official website.
