Triumph unveils the prototype of its first electric motorcycle TE-1
This page is translated from the original post "Triumph dévoile le prototype de sa première moto électrique TE-1" in French.

By unveiling the TE-1 prototype, the British brand Triumph takes a step into the world of electric motorcycles. But when will it be available in dealerships?
This is the very first time we can admire a Triumph electric motorcycle. After phase 1 of announcement, phase 2 of sketches, here is phase 3 of the operational prototype.
A power monster in the making?
The Triumph TE-1 is thus the first electric vehicle from the British manufacturer. The illustrative drawings were not a lie; the style is conventional, inspired by the Speed Triple. This is not necessarily a coincidence, as the prototype is a “mule,” meaning a motorcycle using parts from these models.
The motorcycle incorporates a more modern touch through a larger fairing or the integration of the perfect seat and charger in place of the fuel tank. Although it is a “mule” prototype, some elements are already fixed, such as the chassis, the motor group, and batteries, while brakes from Brembo and Öhlins suspension are entrusted to specialists.
It is still a bit early to talk about power or torque. However, the motor designer, Integral Powertrain, has previously provided some figures. They even mention that the Electric Drive Unit (EDU), including the inverter, weighing 10 kg, is capable of exceeding 500 kW (670 hp). Of course, the Triumph TE-1 will not reach that level, but it is reserved for 130 kW (174 horsepower) in peak for the final model, with 90 kW continuous (121 hp). Not too bad for a beast weighing around 220 kg (including batteries).

Regarding the battery, it is developed by Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE). No details on capacity or chemistry yet, but an estimated range of around 200 kilometers. WAE guarantees “no compromise on performance even at low charge levels.”
The final Triumph TE-1 this summer 2022, launch in 2023?
After phase 3 of prototype construction, comes phase 4 of practical testing. Triumph will test its TE-1 over the next 6 months to validate the proper functioning of all components, whether on road or circuit.
It is only after this step, anticipated for this summer at the earliest, that the final design and specifications (power, range, etc.) will be revealed, and the first media tests will begin. However, the brand has not provided an exact date for the commercialization of the Triumph TE-1 or its pricing.
So, see you at best in 2023 for the first deliveries to customers.
