Yego scooters on the Promenade des Anglais

Mobiwisy informed you about the departure of Cityscoot from the city of Nice. It has been replaced by its competitor Yego.

It was early November. My colleague Antoine Chênerie tried the service provided by the startup Yego, which specializes in sharing electric bicycles, electric scooters, and electric motorcycles, for you.

Antoine then appreciated the retro look of Yego scooters “they don’t go unnoticed with their Vespa-style lines and light green color. Of the three we tested in Paris, two were equipped with a smartphone holder and a footboard. The top case houses two helmets available to the driver and their potential passenger, as well as hair caps.”

But looks aren’t everything, and like many free-floating models, Yego models are not necessarily very speedy. “While we expect a lively start, the scooter shows a very lazy character. The lack of responsiveness and power is sometimes problematic on major roads. The phenomenon is even more noticeable when the battery level is low,” Antoine specified.

Aware of the shortcomings of its first models, Yego responded early this year by reducing the weight by 10 kg, while also modifying the braking system.

A significant offer on French territory

With a fleet of 700 scooters across France, Yego will invest in the city of Nice, replacing Cityscoot. “We thank the city of Nice for its trust in our service, which reflects our shared ambition to provide an accessible transportation service that complements other mobility solutions. In Nice, as we do in other territories, we will implement a series of measures and technological devices to ensure a respectful presence in public spaces and the safety of its users,” explains Benjamin Viguier, President and CEO of YEGO.
