Piaggio’s electric scooter sees its peak power increase by a few watts.
Just a few months after its launch, the Piaggio 1 is already evolving. On the occasion of the EICMA show, the Italian brand announced that the electric scooter would gain in power.
For the Piaggio 1 and 1+ (the two 50cc equivalents limited to 45 km/h), peak power increases to 2.3 kW and 3 kW respectively, compared to 1.34 kW for the two previous versions. According to Piaggio, this small boost results in a 14% increase in acceleration. It will also be noticeable in the riding dynamics, which will be easier to handle.
The Piaggio 1 Active, considered an equivalent to a 125 cc, does not see its power change, remaining at a peak of 3 kW. However, the scooter has also gained agility, according to Piaggio, with a 12% increase in acceleration. Conversely, the maximum speed still appears to be limited to 60 km/h.
Unchanged Range
The performance improvements do not negatively impact the range, which is estimated at 55 km on the Piaggio 1 and 100 km on the 1+ (measured in Eco mode). The 1 Active version can theoretically travel 85 km on a single charge (still in Eco mode).
The 2023 model year of the Piaggio 1 will be available in a new two-tone color combining red and black. Prices have not yet been announced. Therefore, it is unknown whether Piaggio will charge a small extra fee following these technical upgrades. As a reminder, the 1 and 1+ start at €2,699 and €3,199 respectively (with a €100 bonus not deducted). The Piaggio 1 Active costs €3,399 without options. Thanks to its higher nominal power, it is eligible for a national bonus of €575.
