Bugatti and Rimac distributed in the United States by Volkswagen

The Bugatti Rimac alliance has signed an agreement with Volkswagen Group of America, granting them the status of official exclusive importer.

The agreement was signed during Monterey Car Week, where the two brands, Bugatti and Rimac, showcased examples from their hyper-sportscar lineup. An exceptional display at all levels, including the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, Bolide, and W16 Mistral, as well as the new Rimac Nevera Time Attack. While Bugatti is already well known, Rimac still needs to build its reputation. To do so, the brand has decided to take the perilous path of extreme measures at all costs.

The Rimac Nevera is equipped with four electric motors delivering a combined power of 1914 hp and a torque of 2,360 Nm. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 412 km/h, it clearly stands above many other thermal supercars in terms of performance. Regarding range, Rimac claims 550 km in WLTP cycle. The battery capacity is 120 kWh. The vehicle gained significant attention by completing a lap of the Nürburgring in 7’05”298, nearly 20 seconds less than the previous record for a production electric car held by the Tesla Model S plaid which was 7’25”231. However, it’s worth noting that the Rimac costs ten times more than its rival.

A pioneer in the field of electric supercars, Rimac has since been joined by other equally ambitious brands. Pininfarina, for example, offers the Battista, a credible rival to the Nevera. It’s interesting to note that production of these two cars began almost simultaneously in summer 2022.
