Nio Battery Swap

The Chinese manufacturer Nio has crossed the milestone of 150,000 battery swaps in 24 hours for the first time.

The electric vehicle specialist Nio recorded 158,290 battery swaps on February 19, 2026, during the Chinese New Year period, marked by millions of travelers on the roads. This performance sets an all-time record for the Shanghai-based brand and confirms the growing popularity of its battery swap model.

The busiest station that day was located at the Toubao service area along the G1523 Yongwan highway in Lianjiang County (Fujian province), with 166 swaps completed in a single day.

This marks the third record broken in five months. The previous high, set at 146,649 swaps on February 15, had already surpassed the 145,395 operations recorded on October 1 during the Chinese National Day holiday.

More than 100 million cumulative swaps

In total, Nio now claims more than 102.6 million battery swaps in China. The milestone of 100 million was reached on February 6, 2026, illustrating the growing adoption of this alternative to traditional charging.

The infrastructure includes 3,750 swap stations, 28,223 proprietary charging points, and access to more than 1.56 million third-party charging points. The highway network covers 9 north-south corridors, 11 east-west corridors, and 16 major urban basins across 550 cities.
