It’s back for 3 weeks of Olympic routes PARIS 2024

In 48 hours, the special routes for the 2024 Olympics managed to achieve total unanimity against them. A fiasco so predictable.

When we want the festival of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to be beautiful, we cannot help but fear everything that could ruin it. Honestly, whether the Seine is swimmable or not is absolutely irrelevant outside of the absurd little political wars. Ask the athletes; they will tell you that they just want to take advantage of this unique opportunity for which they have sacrificed everything, without jeopardizing their health. When you push your limits, you don’t take the time to see if you’re passing under the Alexander III Bridge or near the banks of another watercourse. We suspected there would be a problem with the Seine; there are plans B or C, so let’s move on.

On the other hand, the traffic plan implemented in the capital and its surroundings for these Olympic Games was formulated in defiance of all common sense. How can we seriously close major roadways to install sports infrastructures while claiming that public transport and soft mobility will seamlessly replace cars… Buses already struggle to circulate under normal conditions, so if we reduce road space, we shouldn’t expect a miracle.

Paris is struggling

Thus, we are left with bicycles and scooters. Even though it’s hard to believe, the Olympic routes set up in inner Paris to facilitate bus and taxi circulation are not permitted for them. Here are these non-polluting vehicles forced to weave between cars and motorcycles! Not only is this extremely dangerous, but any violator is subject to a €135 fine and legal action. Do you not believe us? It is written in black and white on the site Anticiperlesjeux.gouv.fr: “It will be forbidden to circulate on these routes for all other vehicles (including bicycles and scooters). Any vehicle driving on an Olympic route without prior authorization is subject to a €135 fine and legal action.”

The City of Paris once again proves to have botched its preparation work by focusing on the best way to reduce the number of cars in Paris without considering alternatives.
