Geely E2: at €20,990, this new Chinese electric car aims to shake up France

Just four months after its official arrival in France, Geely is already going on the offensive with the E2. A 100% electric city car starting at €20,990, with up to 345 km of range and serious ambitions.

Geely clearly does not intend to waste any time. Officially launched in France at the end of April, the Chinese brand is already unveiling its new weapon: the Geely E2, an electric compact whose price is likely its first big surprise. €20,990 in the catalog price, excluding any possible aids: this should attract attention in a market where affordable electric cars remain rare.

The range starts with the E2 Pro, equipped with a 60 kW (82 hp) motor and a 35.35 kWh battery offering 252 km of WLTP range. Above it, the Pro+ and Max+ move to 80 kW (109 hp), with a 47.14 kWh battery and up to 345 km WLTP. They are priced at €24,990 and €26,990 respectively.

Low Cost or Not?

But Geely does not want to be seen as just a simple “low-cost” manufacturer. The E2 notably adopts a propulsion architecture, which is rather unusual in this category, and promises a spacious interior, strong connectivity, and particularly well-crafted safety features.

Behind it is primarily an industrial giant that controls Volvo Cars and Lotus, and invests heavily in batteries, software, artificial intelligence, and satellites. Geely is also preparing its European industrial setup, with the announced production of electric models in Spain starting in 2028.

To make its E2 known, the brand is thinking big: a Geely Village set up in Paris near the Eiffel Tower, public test drives, and a national campaign.

Its slogan? “Everything is BIG… except its price.” At €20,990, the message is likely to be heard.
