Yamaha Crosscore RC 2023: Discovering the Japanese Electric Bike
This page is translated from the original post "Yamaha Crosscore RC 2023 : découverte du vélo électrique japonais" in French.

It is in the northwest of Spain that Mobiwisy discovered the three upcoming Yamaha bikes, including the Crosscore RC, the city bike of the range.
As a pioneer of e-bikes in the 1990s, the Japanese manufacturer had never bet on France with its models. In spring 2022, Yamaha launched its “Switch On” campaign, announcing its shift towards electric mobility with battery-powered scooters but also e-bikes. At the beginning of autumn, the Japanese company officially presented its upcoming models for the European market.
The mistake has thus been corrected with three products designed for four categories: city, gravel, and mountain. Following this, Mobiwisy was invited to test the three upcoming Yamaha electric bikes in question, including the city bike Crosscore RC, in the Girona region (Spain).
Yamaha Crosscore RC: the versatile city bike
Designed for daily urban use, the Crosscore immediately makes the rider comfortable, thanks to its great stability, handlebar ergonomics, and riding position once seated. The PW-ST motor, quiet and responsive with a torque of 70 Nm, provides a pleasant pedaling experience, while the bike is agile and easy to handle.
The LCD display includes a speedometer, battery capacity indicator, assistance mode adjustment, distance traveled, a odometer, and range. For us, the only small downside of the bike is the feel of the buttons: they are not very pleasant to press and do not look very aesthetic.

Not visible in the photos, the Yamaha Crosscore’s equipment allows for mudguards and rear racks. Finally, if you want to customize the bike, it is possible by adding touring accessories!
Range and testing conditions
The route was extremely hilly, with climbs of 15%, or more. The electric assistance was therefore always engaged, mostly at medium level (2 out of 3). Under these conditions, we estimate about 50 km, compared to the announced 70 km (on flat terrain).
The ergonomics and versatility of the bike are such that the kilometers quickly passed without feeling tiring. Regarding the suspension, nothing negative to report. It proved that the Crosscore RC can handle both asphalt and small bumps, regardless of the incline of the trail.
