The new Véligo operator will be announced on December 11 but is already known

Île-de-France Mobilités announces that the consortium composed of La Poste Nouveaux Services and Transdev is the leading candidate to continue Véligo.

Véligo Rental, the largest bike rental network in Europe, has established its presence since its launch in 2019 with over 20,000 bikes available. To further its development, Île-de-France Mobilités will designate on December 11, during its board meeting, the operator responsible for ensuring the service starting January 1, 2026, for a duration of seven years. The Cyclonova consortium, formed by La Poste Nouveaux Services and Transdev, has already been announced as the winner by the very initiator of the call for tenders.

But with the second generation of the Véligo Location contract, Île-de-France is launching a new communication campaign. Reports suggest a fleet that could grow to 40,000 bikes. Needless to say, demand would have to dramatically increase to justify such a gamble. Meanwhile, the operator will have to manage everything: preparation, maintenance, delivery, reconditioning, resale, recycling… a full program.

The Véligo management consortium will also have a new mission to oversee the “Maisons du Vélo,” spaces dedicated to promoting cycling and welcoming users of the service. The goal is to create 40 fixed and mobile Maisons du Vélo across Île-de-France.

Île-de-France Mobilités, as the transport organizing authority, supports cycling, carpooling, and car-sharing. All of this aims to provide an alternative to individual car use, hopefully without detracting from the recent upgrades to metro and RER networks and infrastructure…

Subsequently, the goal is to reach 140,000 parking spaces near train stations and stops by 2030, but that’s not yet achieved…
