The New MINI Bike Arrives

The automobile manufacturer MINI has partnered with the French electric bike brand Angell to design and manufacture its bikes in Burgundy.

Angell Mobility is a French start-up, specializing in connected electric bikes. The company, founded by Marc Simoncini in 2018, will “design, develop, produce, and distribute a range of MINI brand electric bikes for a period of 5 years.” The current distribution network will consist of 35 sites in France and Europe by the end of 2023.

Although everything seems separate, Angell and MINI, the first joint creation will be unveiled this week, the culmination of the partnership announced on Thursday, March 2.

“This mark of trust from a major industry player is a strong signal for us,” he states, “an encouragement and a form of recognition that obliges us towards our new partner, of course, but also our customers and the Angell Mobility community.” Therefore, MINI electric bikes will be manufactured in France at Angell, in the Seb factory in Is-sur-Tille (Côte-d’Or).

Angell’s ambitions

After the first model “M Rapide” in 2020 and the second “Cruiser” in 2022, Angell also aims to accelerate. The company plans to launch “a new product every 6 months (versus 18 months in the past)”. More than a range of classic e-bikes for affluent city dwellers, the brand aims to reach a broader audience.

There isn’t much to see in the image released this Sunday, but the color already looks very successful, and the frame’s characteristic design closely resembles the M Rapide by Angell. So, is it a true new creation or just a rework of an existing bike? Stay tuned!
