The new range of city bikes from Riese & Müller made a splash in 2022, now joined by a third version, the UBN Six.
Proving that the world of cycling is moving at a lightning pace, new products are pouring in to the point of being hard to keep up. Just within the German brand Riese & Müller, renowned and gaining momentum, 2023 already begins with a new model.
An open frame for everyone
This unprecedented electric bike completes the range of urban UBN models launched by the brand in April 2022. After the UBN Five and Seven, the new UBN Six is nestled between the two. In fact, it is based on the same platform, but with an open frame. More practical, it offers a better step-over than the semi-open frame Seven and the fully enclosed Five.
Unlike other Riese & Müller UBN models, this open frame version slightly exceeds 20 kg, but it remains noteworthy. The color options are also less vibrant, limited to black and white only. However, three frame sizes are available: 45, 51, and 57 cm. Customers can also choose between pannier racks or rear luggage racks.
Drivetrain or belt for the Riese & Müller UBN Six
Like its two siblings, the Riese & Müller UBN Six features a sleek frame that conceals all cables and nicely hides the removable battery in the front. It has a capacity of 430 Wh, originating from Fazua (a brand acquired by Porsche), along with the Ride 60 motor, providing 60 Nm of torque.
The electric bicycle offers two versions :
- UBN Six Touring with Shimano Deore 11-speed derailleur, priced at €4,949
- UBN Six Silent with belt drive and Shimano Alfine 8-speed hub, priced at €5,249
Optional, the manufacturer offers a comfort kit (curved handlebars, wide saddle, high stem, and ergonomic grips) for €50.90 and Suntour NCX-D front suspension at €100.90.
With this new model, Riese & Müller is competing with other open-frame electric bikes: Moustache Lundi 27, Specialized Turbo Como, Canyon Precede:ON CF8, Cube Supreme, Kalkhoff Image 5.B, or Winora Sinus R5.
