Decathlon is once again discounting its Riverside 540 E electric bike

It’s unclear whether it’s the influence of Decathlon’s new logo or the simplification of its range, but such discounts are welcome.

Under the B’twin brand, the French sports equipment giant Decathlon has established itself as a top-tier bicycle manufacturer. While the BMX and children’s bikes from its early days are still in the catalog, the range now includes several hundred models. Mini branches have developed, such as Rockrider mountain bikes, Triban road bikes, Oxylane folding bikes, and Elops urban bikes. Then there are the Riverside models, true Swiss Army knives on two wheels, which house our model of the day.

Premium VTC, the Riverside 540 E retains the well-known frame with a perfectly integrated electric part. It features hydraulic disc brakes, a 63 mm adjustable and lockable magnesium Suntour fork, and a Shimano Deore 10-speed derailleur with sequential control on the handlebars. For urban use, it can accommodate optional fenders. The 540 E is equipped with the new ultra-quiet central motor SHIMANO STEPS E6100, designed for on-road and long-distance path use.
With its torque of 60 Nm, it offers particularly dynamic assistance regardless of the road incline.

The great strength of this e-bike is its SHIMANO Lithium-ion 36v 11.6 Ah battery of 418Wh, capable of providing a range of over 100 km in Eco mode. If you truly appreciate constant assistance, the High mode will support you for 60 km, certainly enough for a round trip in the city without recharging and without breaking a sweat.

The dual Shimano Battery/motor setup allows you to use the E-Tube applications to analyze your trips in minute detail. A nice removable screen provides all the essential information.

Finally, this Riverside is available in 4 sizes to ensure everyone can find a fitting frame, from 1.50m to 2.01m.

With a catalog price of 2,499 euros, this is not an easy purchase unless you truly need very powerful assistance for a long ride. Furthermore, premium brands like Canyon have eagerly jumped into this market. This observation has led Decathlon to apply generous discounts to the model, but never to this extent. The 500 euros discount brings it immediately below the symbolic barrier of 2,000 euros and once the ecological bonus is applied, -40% of the bike’s price or up to 300 euros, the Riverside 540 E lands at 1,699 euros.
