Toyota’s Cargo Bike

Toyota announces the launch of Cargo Verso, its brand new electric cargo bike designed and manufactured in France.
Toyota continues its transformation and pursues its ambition to become the leading mobility company in the world. Cargo Verso will be sold through the 270 Toyota France dealerships at a price of 6,000 euros or with a launch offer starting at 99 euros per month.
This partnership with Douze Cycles, a French manufacturer of cargo bikes based in Dijon for 10 years, is part of Toyota’s transformation. More than just an automobile manufacturer, the brand aims to become a provider of mobility solutions. This evolution includes electrifying its automotive range to achieve “zero emissions,” but also investing in micro-mobilities of which bikes are a part.
A high-end cargo bike
Toyota and Douze Cycles are aiming to sell over 5,000 electric bikes by 2026. A reasonable and realistic objective given the Japanese giant’s strong commercial presence. The cargo bike appears as one of the most effective solutions to help decarbonize city centers since it can be used for the “last mile” delivery by both individuals and couriers. Although its technical specifications have not yet been revealed, Cargo Verso will be capable of transporting up to three children or a substantial load of 100 kg within 270 liters of volume, thanks to a deck designed to accommodate European standards crates measuring 40 x 60 cm.
This new bike, which closely resembles the Hêta marketed by Douze Cycles, is expected to be equipped with a Shimano EP6 Cargo motor and a 630 WH battery or a Shimano EP8 Cargo with a 504 WH battery.
