Carqon recalls three of its bikes that may be defective

The Dutch electric bike manufacturer is facing an issue with three of its models that could put its customers in danger

Bike recalls are currently in vogue. On November 5th, Moustache launched a recall campaign for three of its electric bikes. These had a potential manufacturing defect in the carbon fork. The same happened three days later with Carqon, the Dutch electric bike producer, which is also facing issues with three of its models. This concerns the Classic, Cruise, and Flatbed, all cargo bikes.

The issue involves the bolts fixing the head tube, which could loosen. This makes the handlebar unstable and fragile. Carqon has observed that the steering tube could even break completely, especially in case of impact. This defect poses a real risk to the rider. Moreover, cargo bikes are designed to carry equipment or even people and animals.

Carqon’s campaign similar to Moustache’s

The same problem, same procedure. First, bike owners of the brand are encouraged to visit checkyourcarqon.com to verify if their bike is affected by the recall. If so, they should go to the dealer where they purchased the bike to check its condition.

Like Moustache’s campaign, Carqon is transparent and is actively trying to contact all owners to prevent accidents. Perhaps the manufacturer also wants to avoid negative publicity.

Of course, this process is free. The good news compared to Moustache bikes is that Carqon’s recall only concerns “” 1,500 models versus 10,000 for the French manufacturer.
