With 1064 hp, the 2025 Corvette ZR1 is more powerful than ever

The 2025 version of the Corvette ZR1 will feature a biturbo V8 boasting over 1000 horsepower, all without complicating things with hybrid technology.

Gas-powered supercars are still holding their ground. Just when we thought we had seen the last of them emerge lately, Chevrolet is giving us one final dance with its new Corvette ZR1. To achieve this, the American manufacturer has equipped it with a 5.5-liter biturbo V8 with dual overhead camshafts and a flat-plane crankshaft, dubbed LT7.

Its power claims 1064 horsepower at 7000 rpm, making it the most powerful Corvette in history… and the most powerful production V8 ever built in America. A slight disappointment, amid this avalanche of superlatives, is noting that the top speed is limited to 346 km/h.

Who is this for?

So, of course, one can quickly sidestep the question of its practicality: there isn’t any. 1064 horsepower, even with the best road tires, are not really usable. A GT3 race car, which is philosophically closer in terms of architecture, has “only” 600 horsepower, but its dynamic performance is far superior. Thus, one must concede to the sheer beauty of the exercise, as what is unnecessary is often essential.

The other feat consists of maintaining the dual-clutch transmission and 8 gears. The entire system has nevertheless been resized to ensure reliability. The Magnetic Ride adaptive suspension is also retained and fine-tuned.

The body, too, has been modified to align with the new performance targets. In fact, this Corvette ZR1 starts to stand out once in motion, with astonishing acceleration: going from 80 to 200 miles per hour (128 to 321 km/h) in 24.5 seconds, which is 22% faster than the previous generation C7 ZR1 and 53% faster than the one before that, the C6 ZR1.

The price of this Corvette ZR1 2025 will be announced in the coming months, when production is set to commence.
