The Dacia Sandero is compliant
The new GSR2 general safety regulation mandates a beneficial update for the Sandero range.
With 3 million units sold since 2008, the Sandero is a phenomenon whose success continues to grow. The magic recipe of Dacia is simple, yet highly effective: “A new car at the price of a used car.” An aggressive pricing strategy like that of the Sandero necessarily means sacrificing some styling, comfort, or safety features. But that was before!
The new regulation concerning general safety, GSR2 (Global Safety Regulation No. 2), updates the safety requirements for vehicles within the European Union. These measures aim to improve road safety for everyone, including pedestrians and cyclists, and now make certain safety equipment mandatory:
- Event data recorder (accident)
- Pre-disposition for alcohol interlock
- Traffic sign recognition with overspeed alert
- Lane change alert
- Lane keeping assist
- Driver attention monitoring system
- Rear parking assist
- Light and rain sensors
- Automatic emergency braking (AEBS) with pedestrian and cyclist detection
- Emergency stop signal

Additionally, the entire range now includes Rescue Code, a QR code in the form of a sticker visible on the windshield and rear window. It allows access to the rescue sheet produced by Dacia via a dedicated and free app. Firefighters thus have access to all necessary information for a safe and efficient intervention and can save valuable minutes.
More safety and some updates for the Sandero
The Sandero and the Sandero Stepway, which accounts for two-thirds of the model’s sales, are receiving updates. To last, one must first know how to adapt. This technological update is accompanied by a few other evolutions.
Sandero now features a Journey trim level identical to the Extreme trim of the Stepway, equipped as standard with a shark antenna, diamond-cut alloy wheels Randiă, door sills, floor mats, and many features: keyless entry, climate control, reversing camera, trunk organizer, and removable smartphone holder.
The new Safari Beige color becomes the exclusive color for the Sandero Stepway, giving the model an even more outdoor-oriented look. The two shades, Schist Gray, previously reserved for Jogger, and Cedar Green, emblematic of the Extreme version, are now available on all models.
