Weighted down by the Malus, these sporty Golfs arrive in France

Golf R

The sports news from Volkswagen, the Golf GTI Clubsport and the Golf R, are now available for order in France.

The Golf GTI Clubsport features, like the Golf GTI, the latest turbocharged four-cylinder direct injection engine that delivers the fuel-air mixture at a pressure of 350 bar into the combustion chambers. This allows it to comfortably achieve 300 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. For style, it comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels and red brake calipers. At the back, it boasts two oval exhaust outlets on each side of the bumper.

It is available for order starting at 53,210 euros, to which unfortunately an additional 13,014 euros in tax must be added.

The new Golf R takes performance even further with 333 hp, making it the most powerful Golf of all time. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. It is available for order starting at 56,460 euros, a relatively reasonable price for a sports car of this caliber, but the tax is much less so at 45,990 euros. This is completely prohibitive unless one wants nothing but a Golf R!

It’s a shame because with its specific R body elements, such as blue brake calipers and chrome double exhaust outlets on each side of the rear bumper, it really looks great. It can even be ordered optionally with the ‘R-Performance’ Package which includes 19-inch lightweight alloy wheels, a rear roof spoiler, an electronic increase in maximum speed by 20 km/h to reach 270 km/h, and two additional driving modes, “Drift” and “Special.” And to push the “performance” knob even further, don’t forget the Akrapovič titanium R-Performance exhaust system.
