Genesis Skorpio: Rated X!
With the X Skorpio Concept, Genesis explores for the first time the unique world of extreme off-roading.
Unveiled in the Rub’ al Khali desert in the United Arab Emirates, the Genesis X Skorpio Concept marks a strategic break for the premium brand of the South Korean group Hyundai. Developed to tackle the most hostile environments, this off-road concept car illustrates Genesis’s desire to expand its range of expression beyond traditional road luxury, while staying true to its DNA.

Inspired by the black scorpion, an animal symbolizing resilience and adaptability, the X Skorpio Concept is designed as an extreme leisure vehicle. It is built on a tubular architecture with an integrated safety roll cage, directly derived from competition off-road standards. Genesis claims it is a technological and emotional demonstrator, designed for real performance rather than just a styling exercise.

On the technical side, there’s no compromise! The concept is powered by a V8 engine producing 1,115 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with 18-inch beadlock wheels fitted with 40-inch off-road tires, as well as a Brembo Motorsport braking system. The high ground clearance, generous approach and departure angles, and underbody protection confirm a design geared towards extreme off-road capability and high-speed driving on sand.
Genesis aims high, very high!
The cabin cut contrasts with the usual austerity of vehicles in this segment. Genesis applies its luxury codes here, with particular attention to ergonomics, comfort, and readability of information. The integrated instrument cluster in the steering wheel and the sliding screen adaptable for driver or co-driver modes reflect a user-centered approach built for extreme conditions.

The X Skorpio Concept was unveiled alongside other off-road-oriented studies, such as the GV60 Outdoors Concept, GV70 Outdoors Concept, and GV80 Desert Edition. Together, they form part of a new concept car strategy, presented by Genesis as a laboratory of ideas aimed at strengthening the emotional connection with its customers.

Through this vision, the brand is now structuring its concepts around three emotional pillars: luxury, sport, and a more lifestyle and exploratory dimension. Without confirming any plans for industrialization, Genesis uses the X Skorpio Concept as a strong signal, reflective of its ambitions for the next decade and its growing interest in Middle Eastern markets, where high-end off-road vehicles play a central role.
