Estrima Biro: Smaller than the Citroën AMI, and also more expensive

Next to her, the AMI would almost seem imposing. At 1.74 meters long, the Biro is arguably the most compact quadricycle on the market. Developed by the Italian company Estrima, it has recently been marketed in France. A dealership has even been opened in Paris, in the 4th arrondissement.

Like the Citroën AMI, the Biro receives a small electric motor. It operates with two motors delivering a maximum power of 8 hp. Depending on the chosen version, the top speed is limited to 45 or 60 km/h. In the first case, the car is license-free. However, at minimum, you will need an A1 license to drive the Biro limited to 60 km/h.

This photo gives a good idea of the Biro’s size!

Up to 100 km of range

The vehicle is also offered with 2 levels of autonomy: 100 km with the Lithium “Maxi” battery, and 55 km with the “Re-Move” battery. As its name suggests, this one is removable. It is possible to take it out of the vehicle and carry it with you for charging at home, for example. Expect about 3 hours to fully recharge the range. The larger, non-removable battery recharges in roughly 5 hours.

With its tiny size, the Biro can be parked perpendicular to the sidewalk. Inside, a 41-liter trunk has been installed behind the two foldable seats. Small storage compartments are also dispersed in various locations. Customers seeking more cargo space can opt for slightly extended versions (+10 cm), which feature a larger trunk (300 liters). There are two: the Biro Big (standard trunk) and the Biro Box (trunk transformed into a cargo case).

The Biro can be ordered with or without doors (Winter or Summer version). In its basic configuration, it already costs €10,800 (plus a €900 bonus that is not deducted). This rather high price probably confines it to secondary roles in the consumer market. However, it could be relevant for rental services. Operator Shaary has already put a few into service in the city of Marseille.
