Volkswagen slags off its ID.3 GTX and ID.7 GTX Tourer
The German manufacturer plays the style and sport card to energize its compact ID.3 and its new station wagon ID.7 in GTX version.
While awaiting the upcoming Volkswagen Golf GTI, which will be electric as already indicated by the German manufacturer, here is the sporty ID.3. The GTX trim is also available on other models in the ID lineup after the ID.4 and ID.5, and in anticipation of the promised ID.Buzz.
Two new models now feature this, the ID.3 and the new large station wagon ID.7 Tourer. In both cases, the design is as much aesthetic as mechanical. If the hatchback remains front-wheel drive, the station wagon benefits from all-wheel drive.

An ID.3 GTX introduces a new battery
The front bumper is redesigned, as are the 20-inch wheels, while the lowered suspension makes the overall look very sporty. The two-tone paint is original, as seen on the most upscale versions of the current ID.3 lineup.
Inside, the treatment is also very exclusive with notably seats and upholstery in faux Alcantara with striking effects. Under the exterior, the mechanicals boost up to 210 kW (286 horsepower!), or even 240 kW (326 horsepower) for the Performance version. This version accelerates to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds, compared to 6.0 seconds for the standard GTX.

The range is said to reach 600 km with the addition of a new 79 kWh net battery, capable of charging at up to 175 kW. This same battery is now available on the ID.4, ID.5, and ID.7 models.

The ID.7 Tourer GTX is even more powerful
The sharing of mechanical components allows Volkswagen to quickly capitalize on its progress in electric technology and to spread the benefits of a new powertrain across all its ranges. The ID.7 GTX therefore takes over the 210 kW rear motor and adds another 80 kW (108 horsepower) at the front for a combined power limited to 250 kW (340 horsepower).
The battery benefits from additional cells, increasing its capacity to 86 kWh net, and its charging power rises to 200 kW! Ideal for recovering 10 to 80% in 30 minutes, roughly 450 km. The total range would be around 600 km, though WLTP homologations are not yet validated.
Pricing and release dates have not yet been announced, but it’s unlikely to be imminent. We can only fear high prices, with the ID.4 and ID.5 GTX starting at 63,000 and 65,400 euros respectively. The ID.3 GTX should hover around 50,000 euros, and the ID.7 GTX around 70,000 euros. Ouch ouch ouch.
