Fast charging for a Tesla is now 16% cheaper

At the beginning of January 2024, Tesla is ramping up its pricing strategy, both at concessions and within its Supercharger network.

It’s the cents that will make all the difference! Tesla knows this, and after reducing the price of its Model Y from 3,000 to 5,000 euros on January 17, 2024, the American manufacturer made an even bolder move. Yet, more discreet: lowering the price per kW at its Superchargers.

Thus, the price has decreased in various European countries by 2% to 16%, with France experiencing the largest cut and also having the lowest tariff on the continent. The widespread nuclear power plants play a significant role here. The cost per kW is now just slightly more expensive at home (€0.22/kW) with rates starting at €0.27/kW during off-peak times. For Tesla, off-peak means “low traffic”.

The rate can increase up to €0.30/kW during “peak hours”, which remains highly competitive. However, beware of occupying a station once your vehicle reaches 100% charge, as a penalty of €1 per minute will then be applied.

By way of comparison, the price per kW at the competitor Ionity is still €0.59! And if you have the Ionity Passport (subscription for €11.99 per month), the rate drops to €0.39/kW, which is still 25% more expensive than Tesla.

For example, charging a 60 kW Tesla Model Y from 0% to 100% costs from €20.88 to €18 in the worst-case scenario, for a range of 430 km. A significant saving. A family car running on gasoline, consuming 7 liters of SP98 (at €1.80/liter), would cost €54.18 to travel the same distance. Of course, the larger your Tesla’s battery, the greater the savings!

This rate is, of course, only available to Tesla owners or those with a €12.99 subscription card. However, be aware that some Superchargers remain open to competition.
