The MG MG4 under €25,000 until December 15. And after?

Star model of the year, the MG4 will definitely lose the Green Bonus in 25 days. Is this car really worth rushing for?

A 100% electric sedan with a reasonable size, well below the trend of increasing dimensions, that is what the MG4 has committed to. It measures just under 4.30 meters, precisely 4.29 meters, and features a good turning radius that allows it to maneuver well in city traffic and especially to park easily. The bodywork is also quite well protected and resists minor knocks.

In terms of style, electric cars try to stand out. While competitors like the Volkswagen ID.3 and the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric display a certain originality, the MG4 Electric is more conventional, drawing aesthetic inspiration from well-established models such as the Nissan Micra and the Toyota Yaris Cross.

The advantage of the MG4 Electric is that, right from the entry-level version, it offers a Standard 51 kWh model with 170 horsepower. Acceleration is high-level (0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds) and the performance is also impressive.

During our test conducted in autumn 2022 in Provence, with temperatures around 15 degrees, we measured an average consumption of 18.9 kWh/100 km on a mixed cycle, resulting in a real range of 270 km, compared to the 350 km claimed by the Chinese manufacturer. The average is more favorable in city driving, with an average of 17 kWh/100 km (about 300 km real range). However, this figure skyrockets on the highway, with our onboard computer indicating up to 24 kWh/100 km, or only 210 km real range. A small-battery version that will appeal more to city dwellers.

Regarding charging, the “basic” MG4 is equipped with an onboard charger of 6.6 kW (charges from 10-100% in 7.5 hours) and supports DC fast charging at 117 kW (10-80% in 40 minutes).

The Standard trim is already very well equipped with a faux leather steering wheel adjustable in 4 directions, LED headlights, keyless access, rear parking sensors, MG Pilot (ACC/TJA/LKA…), a 10.25’’ touchscreen with Apple CarPlayTM/Android AutoTM, a 7’’ digital instrument cluster, and the very useful V2L system allowing charging of accessories such as bikes and electric scooters directly from the car.

With the Dover White paint, this MG4 Standard is priced at €29,990. The price drops immediately to €24,990 with the application of the Green Bonus if ordered before December 15 — a reminder we give you again. The total falls to €22,990 with the increased Green Bonus (based on income conditions) and even to €20,490 with the trade-in bonus!

Still convinced? Know that over 120 cars are available throughout France on the official MG website. So yes, there will be something for everyone, but it won’t last very long.

Is this the end of the Love Story between MG and the French public? Not necessarily, because unlike Tesla, which multiplies promotions and discounts, MG announces prices and sticks to them. And it works! At €40,000 after all incentives are deducted, the MG4 XPower remains the most affordable family dragster on the market, capable of covering 380 km after accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. At €45,000, the Marvel R Luxury can confidently compete with the Peugeot E-3008 and the new Renault Scenic.
