Conspiracy Theorists Reinvent the Autonomy of the Tesla Cybertruck

Some customers Tesla claim that the range of their Cybertruck equipped with the new hubcaps is 25% better than the brochure.

This one, we didn’t see coming: a duo of enthusiasts fans of the Cybertruck who claim, without supporting evidence, that their large Tesla electric pickup is now capable of over 400 miles (about 645 km) of range. By what miracle? The integration of the new plastic hubcaps developed in haste by Tesla following the disastrous episode where this styling gimmick damaged tire sidewalls, even leading to explosions under pressure.

For several months, Tesla had to deliver its Cybertruck without hubcaps, with exposed wheels, promising to send the hubcaps to its customers once developed and approved. That has now been done.

Tesla distances itself

In terms of conspiracy theories, we are no longer shocked by anything coming from the United States. Thus, a new customer who received a complete unit reports on social media his pleasant surprise to find that his Cybertruck displays real-time consumption allowing him up to 645 km of range. Yes, in a descent, the car can consume nothing, which does not mean it has infinite range…

However, more seriously, it might (let’s use the conditional) be that these new hubcaps, combined with new Pirelli tires with lower rolling resistance, have somewhat improved the initial range of the Cybertruck. However, Tesla reminds that its pickup promises up to 318 miles (511 km) in AWD version. We are still far from the customer’s imaginary 645 km… especially since the ranges promised by Tesla or its competitors are never met. That’s the game.

Is there something fishy going on?

At Mobiwisy, with experience related to all the Tesla news, we would almost be inclined to give this customer the benefit of the doubt. But the reason wouldn’t come from these hubcaps, which are nothing magical. No, what if the reason came from an electronic unlocking of the range, as Tesla recently did for the Model 3 and Model Y? The feedback from these first months of marketing could be the origin, especially since the American manufacturer stated, just recently, that it had the capacity to increase the battery volume in the Cybertruck chassis. But then, why complicate things with a Range Extender housed in the rear bed? Should we expect an opportune communication from Tesla in the coming days to bring a bit of positivity when the time is right?

It’s enough to become a conspiracy theorist as well.
