The 2025 BYD Seal Officially Unveiled and Its Price Is Scary

Enhanced version of the electric sedan already on sale in France, the BYD Seal 2025 sees its price drop in China to 22,400 euros!

The information had subtly leaked, and Mobiwisy had already reported on the update, both technological and aesthetic, of the BYD Seal. As of now, this Chinese sedan is considered the fiercest rival to the Tesla Model 3. With similar dimensions and comparable ranges, sometimes even the same battery since Tesla sources from BYD depending on the models, the competition continues.

A few months after the thorough modernization of the Tesla Model 3, BYD is responding. We learn that two battery sizes, all utilizing 800-volt technology for ultra-fast charging, are offered: 61.4 and 80.6 kWh for real ranges in Europe approaching 400 and 600 km. Three power levels follow: 228, 308, and 523 horsepower (all-wheel drive)

Disappointments?

Chinese observers nonetheless believe that this Seal 2025 does not mark a revolution in the technology used in batteries, and thus in terms of energy density and autonomy. No, BYD wanted to focus on the onboard experience, which is now much better than before, with a fully reimagined cabin, and especially the price.

And this is where BYD aims to hit hard against its rival Tesla. With an entry price of 175,800 yuan, which is 22,400 euros, the Seal is 56,100 yuan – or 7,160 euros – cheaper than the Model 3. If we go up to the 650 Long Range finish with 308 hp and the large 80 kWh battery, the price rises to 189,800 yuan, or 24,200 euros! This is the configuration currently available in France at a price of 46,990 euros, nearly twice the price. This proves that margins are still good for Chinese manufacturers…

Finally, the most advanced version, with all-wheel drive, 523 horsepower, the most advanced autonomous driving, 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, etc., is priced at 239,800 yuan, or 30,600 euros! In France, the current, less advanced version is offered at 49,990 euros.

It remains to be seen when this 2025 version will arrive in Europe, and above all, at what price.
