Tesla: When the Sentry Mode Becomes the Masked Vigilante

In a theft case in the United States, the Sentinelle mode of a Tesla helped capture a suspect on the run.

Too bad the story that follows does not concern the astonishing ride of Chechen war criminal Ramzan Kadyrov behind the wheel of a Tesla Cybertruck.

According to reports from our colleagues at Teslarati, the surveillance system equipped in Tesla recorded the entire scene of the theft and allowed the police to identify the suspect. This incident took place at the beginning of the year when a refurbished computer dealer went to a meeting with a client in his Tesla.

The other person allegedly fled with the computer valued at 1600 dollars, without the dealer being sure of his interlocutor’s identity. However, the entire scene was filmed in high definition by the Sentinelle system of his Tesla.

After 8 months on the run, the police were able to apprehend the thief and bring him to justice. As for the Tesla video, it served as evidence to convict the thief.

We already knew that Teslas were very protected from vandalism thanks to this system that records suspicious movements around them when they are parked. If the police now have access to these recordings, at least in the United States, it could greatly assist in solving many cases, especially hit-and-run offenses on the road.
