A Tesla Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive Reemerges in France

Removed from inventories the day before the presentation of the Tesla Model Y Standard, the Propulsion will make its return in a few weeks.

It was almost expected given how well-known Tesla‘s commercial strategy is. First, internal competition is eliminated to avoid cannibalizing sales… then waiting a few days… fear of declining sales sets in… and a step back is taken.

This is exactly what happened with the Model Y Propulsion: completely removed from the Tesla website in Europe, including from inventories, as of October 10, 2025, a brand-new unit has just reappeared.

Rush for the latest Model Y Propulsion?

Reactions from fans to the arrival of the Model Y Standard, which is €5,000 cheaper than the Propulsion but stripped down in equipment, are generally negative. Only professionals of the road seeking a more affordable Tesla model will be truly interested. We especially think of taxis, VTC… and tomorrow Robotaxi. For others, the fear is being labeled as owning the “poor man’s” Model Y, even at €37,000 (when it becomes eligible for the CEE Bonus)

The concern for Tesla was that customers would rush to buy the Propulsion in the first few days. After the initial buzz, Tesla reopens the supply faucet to clear out existing stocks. And surprisingly, the unit found here is very interesting because it features the gorgeous Ultra Red color (€2,600 extra).

However, Tesla sends a final message: knowing that the Propulsion has become highly desirable since the arrival of the Standard, no discounts should be expected. It’s the harsh reality of business according to the American manufacturer.

For the customer, however, reading the catalog becomes even more confusing. More than choice, they are mainly faced with a dilemma…
