Tesla and the Mockery of the Ecological Bonus

Tesla is engaged in a massive campaign to liquidate its stock of Model Y Propulsion “small range”. At Mobiwisy, we are convinced that this trim will soon disappear from the catalog, as it makes no sense compared to a Model Y Long Range which is 2000 euros more expensive but offers 25% more range.

There’s no contest anymore, and sales prove it. Similarly, in the United States, the Propulsion version has already disappeared.

Same price, with or without Ecological Bonus

The German economic pragmatism had already understood that the yo-yo pricing of Tesla was proof that the ecological bonus only served to improve the sales margin on electric cars. Since the disappearance of this bonus across the Rhine, sales have indeed decreased, but Tesla prices have not increased. On the contrary…

The American manufacturer has adjusted its prices through new discounts. The most “shocking” is the current one on the Model Y Propulsion, whose price has dropped to 38,990 euros in France and Germany. Except that in France, the taxpayer contributes 4000 euros and Tesla for 2000 euros through a discount. In Germany, the 6000 euros discount comes solely from Tesla, proving that the margin is enormous.

If we were to extrapolate in France, this means that Tesla could lower the price of its Model Y Propulsion by an additional 4000 euros, starting from 34,990 euros.

The ecological bonus will be one of the major financial scandals of this early millennium, at a time when the state’s finances are in the red… and the profits of car manufacturers, without distinction, are in scarlet green. To add insult to injury? The entire range of Model Y benefits from the 6000 euros discount in Germany!
