Audi e-tron GT

To advance a model like the Audi e-tron GT, nothing could be simpler. More range, performance, and charging!

Since its launch in 2021, the Audi e-tron GT has been a symbol of a certain vision for the electric transition at Audi. A remarkable balance between technology, luxury, and performance. But after 3 years of loyal service, it was time to relaunch the machine. The new model range now includes 3 variations: the Audi S e-tron GT, the Audi RS e-tron GT, and the Audi RS e-tron GT performance.

In its three versions, Audi’s fully electric Gran Turismo offers impressive driving performance. The Audi S e-tron GT accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, the Audi RS e-tron GT in 2.8 seconds, and the Audi RS e-tron GT performance in just 2.5 seconds. This last ultra-sporty variant is undoubtedly the most spectacular. As the first fully electric RS performance model, it features unique design elements. For sports enthusiasts, it can optionally be equipped with a dark matte carbon roof paired with carbon camouflage elements. The Audi RS e-tron GT performance delivers a power output of 680 kW (925 hp). This makes it the most powerful production car ever produced by Audi.

As if that weren’t enough, a new standard boost function allows the Audi RS e-tron GT and the Audi RS e-tron GT performance to provide a remarkable power increase of 70 kW during driving. The driver can activate the boost function using the control button located to the left of the steering wheel. The boost activates for ten seconds, as indicated by a countdown in the cockpit.

Audi in search of perfect balance

However, in a car, weight is the enemy of good, and electric vehicles are particularly poor performers in this regard due to their batteries. Despite the significant increase in power, the German manufacturer has therefore undertaken a hunt for excess kilograms and managed to reduce the weight of the electric motor on the rear axle by about ten kilograms by redesigning lighter components such as the rotor and stator and optimizing the cooling system. Audi has also reduced the weight of the high-voltage battery while increasing its energy density, achieving nine kilograms less for a total of 625 kilograms. The battery has a gross storage capacity of 105 kWh (net: 97 kWh). The maximum DC charging power is now between 50 kW and 320 kW. Under ideal conditions, the high-voltage battery of the Audi e-tron GT range can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes at a high-power charging station (HPC). In just 10 minutes, the battery can be charged for a range of 280 kilometers. For tech enthusiasts, the Audi virtual cockpit now provides comprehensive information on the current operating status of the battery, its temperature, a fast charging forecast, and pre-conditioning status.

Technology serving pleasure

To remain a benchmark in terms of handling, the range comes standard with a two-chamber/two-valve air suspension. This active technology allows control of pitch and roll and adapts damping to road conditions and desired usage. Relaxation and compression can thus be calibrated on demand for comfort on the road or effectiveness on track. Additionally, Audi offers a more direct all-wheel steering option than before on the Audi e-tron GT quattro. This reduces steering effort at low speeds and improves the car’s responsiveness as driving pace increases.

The aesthetic adjustments are minimal, which is great because the design of the e-tron GT does not need to be revolutionized. The bulk of the work by Audi engineers has focused on optimizing airflow with more pronounced air intakes and a revised front skirt as well as a redesigned rear bumper/diffuser assembly. The four rings now feature a two-dimensional design placed between the grille and the front skirt. Forged and milled 21-inch wheels reminiscent of the “AVUS wheel,” unveiled by Audi in 1991 for the Audi Avus quattro concept, also appear in the catalog.

The new models in the Audi e-tron GT range are available for order starting June 20. The price of the Audi S e-tron GT starts at 128,250 euros, the Audi RS e-tron GT at 162,400 euros, and the Audi RS e-tron GT performance at 175,350 euros.
