MG feeling good in France

MG continues its development in France and remains focused on its ambitious goal of 180 dealerships on French soil by the end of the year.

While traditional manufacturers are closing dealerships one after another, MG is taking an opposite approach by opening new locations in order to succeed in its market entry. And it’s working!

The MG brand, which came under Chinese ownership in 2007, is now well established in the French automotive landscape after several decades of anonymity. Even better, MG has now climbed onto the third step of the podium among electric manufacturers. In the first three quarters of 2023, 20,827 new MGs have been driven on French roads this year, representing a growth of 219.2% compared to the same period last year.

The end of the year is expected to confirm this positive momentum because MG is conducting a massive clearance sale until December 15, 2023, on most of its electric, hybrid, and thermal models. The prospect of losing the Electric Bonus at this deadline certainly motivates this large clearance, but it doesn’t matter. 2023 will be a year of exponential growth for MG sales in France, and the brand intends to keep its foot on the accelerator until the very end.

In June 2021, MG already had a presence in 80 sales points across mainland France and overseas territories. With the announcement this week of two new dealerships in Normandy, the first in Évreux before the end of 2023, and the second in Bernay in the first quarter of 2024, this number has now doubled. The mechanics is simple. Instead of spending fortunes to open a dealership under its own name, MG relies on major industry players, such as the Group Mary, which already handles distribution for twelve brands (Peugeot, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Opel, Renault, Dacia, Hyundai, Skoda, Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar, and MG).
