Like Tesla, Lotus launches its own charging solutions
This page is translated from the original post "Comme Tesla, Lotus lance ses propres solutions de recharge" in French.

As the energy business is now highly profitable, Lotus will sell its own charging and home storage units.
Legitimacy is established across all items in the electric vehicle value chain. Taking the example of Tesla, which has managed to move beyond the simple role of manufacturer to also become an energy producer and provider, Lotus aims to broaden its scope… of profitability.
The now Chinese manufacturer (owner of the Geely group, like Volvo or Smart) has introduced its first charging solutions capable of delivering up to 450 kW to four vehicles simultaneously. These solutions will not, for now, be part of a global charging network like Tesla has established. They will primarily be aimed at customers and businesses.
Lotus recalls that with such chargers, its SUV Eletre (which accepts up to 350 kW) can recover 80% of its range in 20 minutes and up to 120 km every 5 minutes. All charging stations and cabinets are liquid-cooled to contain the heat generated by such high electrical power.
The idea of Lotus is not a revelation. Since the beginning of the year, the Anglo-Chinese manufacturer announced it has already sold 19,000 cars. Better yet: by the end of 2023, it plans to have produced more cars in one year than the total cumulative production of the brand since its inception in 1952. All these cars will need to be recharged, whether during their journey or simply at dealerships or customers’ homes…
The Lotus charging solutions are already available in China prior to deployment in Europe and the Middle East in the second quarter of 2024.
