In the USA, the Tesla Cybertruck wins an important match

In June 2024, the Tesla Cybertruck became the best-selling vehicle costing over 100,000 dollars in the United States.

For the first time in the history of American automobiles, and probably even worldwide, a large electric pickup has become the best-selling vehicle over 100,000 dollars. In June 2024, the automobile sales observatory in the United States reported that more than 3,200 units of the Tesla Cybertruck were sold, with an average price of 112,696 dollars.

We are very, very far from the promise of a 50,000 dollar electric pickup as stated during its unveiling in 2019, but it must be acknowledged that this divisive vehicle is succeeding in its gamble.

This same observatory informs us that the United States set a new record for electric vehicle registrations in the second quarter of 2024, with 330,000 units sold. This is despite a trend of rising average prices, of about +11%. This increase is partly justified by Tesla‘s decision to raise its prices to achieve profitability. Across the Atlantic, the average price of an electric car was 56,371 dollars (51,600 euros) in May 2024.

Pickup Trucks in Shape

Across all segments and powertrains, the best-selling vehicle in June 2024 in the United States remains the Ford F-Series, with 65,000 sales at an average price of 67,443 dollars (61,700 euros).

Finally, the average price of a new car in the United States, across all powertrains, was 48,644 dollars (44,500 euros) in June 2024, an increase of 0.6%. An interesting trend that speaks volumes about the economic health of the country.
