Like Tesla, Volkswagen offers an ID.7 “+” with XXL range
For an additional 1700 euros, Volkswagen offers a version ID.7 Pro S of its large electric sedan with a range of 702 km.
There are two ways to view the arrival of a new XXL battery finish in the Volkswagen ID.7 catalog: the new version will cost even more… or the old one will soon be heavily discounted.
At Mobiwisy, we obviously lean towards the second option. The ID.7 is indeed expensive, but its features are also high. Unfortunately, it does not benefit from any environmental bonus due to its price now flirting with 60,000 euros. 59,990 euros to be precise, which is already a noticeable reduction compared to its launch at the end of 2023. This first price drop can also be interpreted as a response to its poor sales performance in dealerships.
The phenomenon is expected to accelerate with the anticipated arrival of a version called ID.7 Pro S that utilizes Volkswagen Group’s new XXL battery. When the first ID.7 (it feels like we are talking about a car launched 4 years ago…) had a 77 kWh battery for a mixed WLTP range of 613 km, the new one climbs to 86 kWh and 702 km. This is an increase in range of 89 km or 14.5%. Not negligible, especially since this super range comes with an additional cost of 1700 euros. At Tesla, the same idea was recently applied to the Model Y Long Range with an added cost of 2000 euros.

Big discounts on the horizon?
This new battery also allows for a higher charging power of 200 kW compared to 175 kW for the 77 kWh version. This power allows recovering up to 80% of range (about 450 km) in just 26 minutes on fast chargers, especially on the highway.
Note that the estate version ID.7 Tourer offers a slightly more affordable entry-level trim at 58,990 euros with a range of 604 km. At the same trim level, the Tourer estate is, on average, priced 700 euros higher than the sedan.
In the Pro S version, the ID.7 sedan is thus listed at 61,690 euros and at 62,390 euros in Tourer (estate) body style. Once we have said all that, we return to our starting point: if you like the Volkswagen ID.7, head to your dealer and negotiate a big discount (which is also expected). A 20% discount is clearly the norm currently on electric vehicles from the Volkswagen group.
