Highlander, the Family Electric Toyota we Envy Americans
The Highlander is typically the kind of model that makes you look on with a bit of jealousy from Europe.
A true institution across the Atlantic since 2001, the Toyota Highlander is now transitioning to a 100% electric era… and confirms everything we love about large American family SUVs: space, style, and technology.

Unveiled in North America, this new BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) version is part of Toyota Motor Corporation’s multi-energy strategy. Produced in Kentucky, it enriches an already well-known electric range in France, which includes the Toyota bZ4X and Toyota C-HR+.
A product that impresses
The Highlander BEV is built on a cutting-edge electric architecture, featuring two lithium-ion battery capacities: 76.96 kWh for urban use and 95.82 kWh for long distances. In its most ambitious configuration (AWD), the targeted range reaches up to 320 miles, or about 515 kilometers. Additionally, the presence of a battery preconditioning system optimizes fast charging, even in cold weather, aiming for around 30 minutes to recover a large portion of energy.
The design, meanwhile, retains the robust and stately DNA of the Highlander. With a bold silhouette, a revamped wide grille for electric use, and balanced proportions, it presents a reassuring presence without veering into flamboyance. But the real standout feature remains its habitability. Here, there are no symbolic jump seats: there are seven real, usable seats for daily use, in a precise five-meter length, with generous space for both passengers and luggage. A family SUV in every sense of the term.
